Justin Ziegler has left his role as chief operating officer of Juicyway, the cross-border fintech startup he cofounded in 2021 alongside Ife Johnson.

His departure was confirmed on the company’s LinkedIn page earlier this month. The African tech ecosystem has seen a wave of leadership changes across sectors in the last 18 months, including Tayo Oviosu leaving his role as CEO at Paga and Katlego Maphai stepping down as CEO of Yoco.

Under Ziegler, Juicyway operated in stealth for three years, processing over $1.3 billion across 25,000 cross-border transactions for more than 4,000 businesses. He also helped the company secure a $3 million pre-seed round led by P1 Ventures, with participation from Ventures Platform, Future Africa, and Microtraction.

Juicyway builds a payment network for cross-border transactions between businesses and individuals. Johnson, the company’s CEO, has said the goal is to become the platform Nigerians and eventually the rest of Africa use to convert currencies and settle cross-border payments, with stablecoins at the centre of that push.

In 2026, the company registered as a payment service provider in Canada and secured regulatory approval to operate across 48 US states. In March, Juicyway highlighted an integration with Aptos aimed at using faster blockchain settlement rails.

Ziegler is a Princeton and Stanford Graduate School of Business alumnus. Before Juicyway, he worked as chief of staff at Andela.
