OPay files for US IPO, considers secondary listing in Nigeria

OPay has filed a prospectus for a proposed US initial public offering (IPO), as the fintech considers a secondary listing on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) that could give local investors an opportunity to own a stake in the company.

The fintech, which primarily operates in Nigeria, also has operations in Egypt, Indonesia, and Pakistan, offering services ranging from payments to lending. Its proposed IPO comes amid rapid revenue growth, driven increasingly by its lending business.

In the first six months of 2026, OPay generated $467.1 million in revenue, with Nigeria accounting for 89.5% of the total. Revenue grew 136% from the $198.0 million recorded in the same period of 2025. The company also reported $90.9 million in net income, compared with $21.7 million a year earlier.
