If you use MonieWorld to send money from the UK to Nigeria, you’ll need another option soon.
Moniepoint announced in August that it was winding down MonieWorld, roughly 16 months after launching the remittance service. The company said it wanted to redirect resources from the UK operation towards its core African businesses.
That does not necessarily mean there was no demand for the product. Moniepoint said monthly transaction volume among MonieWorld’s UK diaspora users had grown by 70%, although it did not disclose the starting point, customer numbers, revenue or profitability. So there is not enough public information to say that weak demand caused the shutdown.
What is clear is that anyone moving from MonieWorld has plenty of alternatives. The harder part is deciding which one makes sense for the way you send money.
We selected five established services currently available for UK-to-Nigeria transfers. This is not an exhaustive list of every provider in the market, nor are the five ranked from best to worst. We looked at the same things for each: rates and fees, track record, transfer speed, customer reviews and support, additional features, and, finally, whether there is a convincing reason to consider it.
Five UK-to-Nigeria MonieWorld alternatives
1. Africhange

Rates and fees: Africhange has one of the stronger rate cases in this group. In April 2026, a BestRates UK-to-Nigeria comparison showed Africhange offering ₦1,850 per pound, which produced ₦925,000 on a £500 transfer. That was the highest payout among the five providers covered here, although Taptap Send was only ₦1,000 behind. A single snapshot cannot tell you who will offer the better rate next week, but it gives a useful point of comparison.
Africhange has also published a much larger historical study using BestRates records. It matched 37,521 GBP-to-NGN quotes from January 2025 to August 2026 and found that Africhange had the higher quoted rate than LemFi in 91.8% of observations matched within ten minutes. The average difference was ₦12.69 per £1.
We also checked BestRates at the time of writing. Of the five providers covered in this article, Africhange offered the highest exchange rate at ₦1,857.00 per £1, followed by Remitly at ₦1,847.18. That’s a difference of ₦9.82 per pound, or ₦4,910 on a £500 transfer before any fees.
Track record: Africhange launched in the UK in July 2024, giving it a shorter UK operating history than the likes of LemFi or Remitly. It nevertheless has an established customer base. The company has over 200,000 users globally and has processed more than two million transactions since launch. These figures aren’t directly comparable to the active-customer counts and transfer values reported for LemFi and Remitly, and a shorter UK track record alone doesn’t indicate poorer service.
Speed and reliability: Africhange promotes fast transfers, but we did not find independently tested UK-to-Nigeria delivery data that would justify positioning it as faster than other providers. Public customer reviews show a mixed picture. Some users describe transfers as seamless, while others report delays, wallet funding issues, or longer processing times.
Customer reviews and support: Africhange currently has a much smaller Trustpilot footprint than the other large providers on this list. Its profile had 630 reviews as of September 8, 2026. Recent reviews include praise for quick responses and issue resolution, alongside complaints about verification delays and transfers taking longer than expected.
Additional features: Africhange has moved beyond a basic remittance app by offering eligible UK customers GBP accounts powered through Griffin, with individual account numbers and sort codes. Customers can receive and hold pounds and make faster payments. Africhange also supports multiple currencies and offers volume-based rate improvements for qualifying transfers, giving customers sending larger amounts access to better rates.
Why consider it: Africhange earns its place mainly because of the historical rate evidence against LemFi and its growing UK account functionality. If maximising the naira payout matters to you, it is worth checking alongside the other apps before you send.
2. LemFi

Rates and fees: LemFi advertises competitive rates and low transfer costs, but promotional offers can make one transfer look better than another. Its current UK-to-Nigeria campaign, for example, offers reward points to eligible new customers completing a first transfer of at least £100. That is a temporary promotion rather than standard pricing.
In our live check on BestRates, LemFi offered the lowest exchange rate of the five providers on this list, at ₦1,833.00 per £1.
Track record: LemFi has a substantially longer and more established diaspora remittance business. It has more than one million active users and processes around $1 billion in monthly payment volume.
That scale gives LemFi a longer operating record for customers to judge, but it does not necessarily translate into a better rate, lower cost, or better experience on a transfer today.
Speed and reliability: LemFi positions transfers as fast, and public reviews frequently describe near-instant or quick transactions. But, as with the other providers, we do not have a controlled UK-to-Nigeria benchmark proving it is faster than competitors. Trustpilot’s recent review summary also notes complaints involving pending payments and processing delays.
Customer reviews and support: LemFi had 14,676 Trustpilot reviews on the profile we checked, with an average rating of 4.5. Recent reviews include praise for helpful support, but there are also complaints about unresolved payments and difficulty reaching support in more complicated cases.
Additional features: LemFi has expanded beyond international transfers to include multi-currency wallets and other UK products, but multi-currency functionality itself is not unique to LemFi. Other providers on the list, like Africhange, also support multiple currencies alongside their GBP account functionality.
Why consider it: LemFi’s clearer case is its scale and longer remittance history. Someone who has successfully used it for years may reasonably value that familiarity and track record. But those advantages do not guarantee a better rate or final payout, so it is still worth comparing the live numbers before making a choice.
3. NALA

Rates and fees: In BestRates’ April 2026 UK-to-Nigeria comparison, Nala offered ₦1,827.69 per £1, placing it behind Africhange and Remitly. In our live check at the time of writing, it ranked third among the five providers covered here, offering ₦1,847.16 per £1 — just ₦0.02 below Remitly’s rate.
Track record: NALA predates several of the newer remittance apps but entered the Nigerian corridor more recently. Its Nigeria page says more than 500,000 people from the UK, US and EU use NALA, while its broader company site says the wider NALA product is trusted by more than one million people across 35-plus countries.
Speed and reliability: NALA says most Nigeria transfers arrive instantly or within a few minutes and that 95% arrive “in minutes”. That tells us NALA is built for fast transfers, but it does not show that NALA is meaningfully faster than LemFi, Africhange, Taptap Send, or Remitly.
Customer reviews and support: NALA had 1,078 Trustpilot reviews and a rating of around 4.3 at the time of checking. The reviews include praise for customer support and transfer speed, but 20% were one-star, with negative feedback citing failed or delayed transactions.
Additional features: NALA has developed a broader Global Account product that allows customers to receive, hold, convert, and send multiple currencies. It also supports transfers from the UK, the US, and 19 European countries to destinations across Africa and Asia.
Why consider it: NALA makes the strongest case for someone whose financial life extends beyond one UK-to-Nigeria transfer route. Its wider multi-currency product and international coverage are more convincing reasons to include it on this list.
4. Taptap Send

Rates and fees: In our live check at the time of writing, it ranked fourth among the five providers covered here, offering ₦1,834.00 per £1 with no separate transfer fee. That put its rate just ₦1 per pound ahead of LemFi’s ₦1,833.00.
Track record: Taptap Send has been operating since 2018 and has grown into a large remittance service covering Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Its public customer-review footprint is much larger than Africhange’s or NALA’s, which gives customers more history to look through when judging the service.
Speed and reliability: Taptap says 95% of Nigerian bank transfers arrive in under two minutes. That is useful evidence about Taptap itself, but it should not be treated as proof that it is faster than the other providers. Different companies publish different speed measures, so they are not directly comparable.
Public reviews generally support the view that many transfers are completed quickly, though complaints about delayed transactions also appear.
Customer reviews and support: Taptap Send had more than 40,000 Trustpilot reviews and a 4.7 rating as of September 2026. Around 85% were five-star and 7% one-star. Recent reviews include praise for ease of use and quick issue resolution, alongside complaints about transfers taking longer than expected.
Additional features: Taptap’s UK offering now extends beyond remittances to include wallets and card products for some eligible users. Availability is still being rolled out, so those features are not available to everyone.
It also publishes a high maximum transfer figure for UK customers, although individual limits depend on verification and other account checks.
Why consider it: Taptap Send is an established remittance service with many public customer reviews and no separate transfer fee to Nigeria. It’s worth comparing its final naira payout with those of the other providers before sending.
5. Remitly

Rates and fees: In our live check at the time of writing, it ranked second among the five providers covered here, offering ₦1,847.18 per £1 with no transfer fee. Its UK-to-Nigeria page also advertised a promotional rate of around ₦1,879 per £1 for eligible new customers. However, that offer applies only to the first £250 sent; any amount above that is converted at the applicable non-promotional rate for the stated payment methods.
Track record: Remitly is by far the largest operator in this group. In Q2 2026, it reported 10.2 million quarterly active customers and $23.5 billion in send volume. Those figures come from the company’s public financial reporting. It also has a much longer operating history than most of the providers here.
Speed and reliability: Remitly lets customers choose a delivery option and shows the expected delivery time before the transfer is confirmed. It also allows users to track transfers through the app or website and receive status updates. We did not find a Nigeria-specific speed percentile that can be cleanly compared with Taptap or NALA, so there is no basis to call it faster or slower.
Customer reviews and support: Remitly had 117,582 Trustpilot reviews at the time of checking, with an average rating of about 4.6. Its recent review summary highlights plenty of praise for reliability and ease of use, but also complaints involving transaction delays, verification requests, and transfers remaining pending.
Additional features: Remitly gives Nigerian recipients more payout options than several other services. Depending on the provider, customers can send money through bank deposit, cash pickup, or mobile wallet. UK senders can also fund transfers using several payment methods
Why consider it: Remitly’s strongest reason for being on the list is its combination of operating scale and payout flexibility, especially if you want a long-established international provider.
Which MonieWorld alternative should you choose?
It depends on why you used MonieWorld in the first place. If your priority is getting as much naira as possible for your pounds, Africhange is the first alternative we’d compare.
Its analysis of historical BestRates quotes makes a stronger case against LemFi than a one-off comparison alone, and it offered the highest rate among the five providers in our live check.
Other priorities may lead you elsewhere. LemFi has a longer UK operating history and a larger reported customer base. NALA may appeal if you want a broader multi-currency service, while Taptap Send is an established remittance provider with a substantial body of public customer reviews. Remitly stands out for its scale and range of payout options
