Anthropic is now the most valuable Private AI Company on the Planet

Anthropic, the parent company of Claude AI, is now the most valuable privately held Ai company after its latest fundraising yesterday.

Anthropic raised $65 billion at a post-money valuation of $ 965 billion, as it seeks to expand its computing capacity and meet surging global demand for its Claude product. The latest series H funding round puts Anthropic ahead of OpenAI, which was last valued at $852 billion post-money in March.

Anthropic, in a blog post on its website, announced its latest valuation. It draws parallels between the new funding and the February round.

“Since our series-G in February, adoption has continued to grow across global enterprise customers, and our run-rate revenue crossed $47-billion earlier this month,” Anthropic said. The startup was valued at $380 billion in February after raising $30 billion.

The Race to an IPO

Anthropic and OpenAI might be seeking private funding in the meantime. However, both companies are seriously preparing to go public, according to experts familiar with them. The race to an IPO is driven by the need to satisfy the technical requirements needed to sustain a global Ai platform. Private funds alone won’t cut it, so both companies are planning to go public later in the year.

Anthropic is struggling with excessive demand. This has led it to roll out a usage limit during peak hours and ease it after peak hours.

Its latest funding round was led by Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks, and Sequoia Capital, with Coatue and Iconiq as co-leads, among others. Anthropic’s strategic infrastructure partners Micron, Samsung, and SK Hynix also joined the investment round.

Amazon committed $5 billion to the funding round. It is fulfilling its promise from April to invest up to $25 billion in Anthropic. This comes across as a strategic investment for Amazon, as Anthropic has earlier committed to spending more than $100 billion over the next 10 years on Amazon Cloud Technologies.

Claude Use Surges in Nigeria

In Nigeria, Claude has stolen the limelight from ChatGPT and Grok due to its extensive resources. This is coupled with FOMO amongst young nIgerians. The ability to vibe code, write unique reports, and even produce tailored CVs and proposals made it an instant hit. It now surpasses ChatGPT, which many critics say is too agreeable.

NVIDIA remains the most valuable AI company with a whopping market cap of $4.5 trillion. The publicly traded company has the world’s most valuable stock, and its AI chips dominate the market.

NVIDIA remains safe in this position as Anthropic and OpenAI are yet to go public. If both companies go public. The gap between the three AI companies will definitely be reduced, as AI platform companies are likely to be as sought-after in the market as infrastructure providers.
