Yellow Card has raised $40 million in funding from SC Ventures, the venture arm of Standard Chartered, alongside Sony Innovation Fund, Polychain Capital, and Blockchain Capital as the fintech accelerates its push to build stablecoin-powered payment infrastructure for businesses globally.

The funding will support the expansion of Yellow Card’s global USD accounts, enabling more businesses to hold US dollars, manage and swap stablecoins, and handle treasury operations from a single account.

Businesses using Yellow Card will also be able to collect and disburse local currencies through domestic payment rails across more than 50 countries, giving companies a simpler way to move money across emerging markets.

The fintech currently holds licences in more than 20 countries across Africa, Europe, and North America and has established partnerships with global financial and technology companies, including Mastercard, Coinbase, and PayPal.

“This investment is a vote of confidence in what we’ve spent years building: the infrastructure that lets global businesses move money without a traditional correspondent banking system,” Yellow Card CEO Chris Maurice said.

“But the bigger opportunity now is connecting banks themselves to stablecoin rails. Money should move at the speed and convenience of the internet, and increasingly, banks want to move with it,” he added.

The investment comes amid growing momentum around stablecoin infrastructure across Africa. In recent months, fintech companies including Flutterwave and LemFi have announced strategic investments linked to stablecoin issuers, while stablecoin-focused startup Daya has also raised a pre-seed round.

Yellow Card was recently named to Fortune’s Crypto 100 list and has continued expanding its role in the global digital asset ecosystem. Through its partnership with Mastercard, the company is exploring stablecoin use cases across cross-border remittances, business-to-business settlements, treasury management, and digital loyalty ecosystems.

“Stablecoins are here to stay, but their adoption will depend on robust infrastructure and clear real-world utility,” said Alex Manson, CEO of SC Ventures. “Yellow Card is building those rails for businesses across Africa, enabling them to access and move value efficiently across markets.”
