There is a version of Karin Ofuya’s life where she becomes a lawyer, probably a very good one, but a detour on the drive home from collecting her law school acceptance letter is what set the course for everything that followed.

She ended up at Babcock University studying mass communication instead, and what followed was a six-year product management career that has taken her from a trading platform at a securities firm to building product teams from scratch, working with global stakeholders across time zones, and leading the full digital launch of Adidas Nigeria from end to end.

In this conversation, Karin talks about how she found her way into product management, what it took to localise a global brand for the Nigerian market, the decisions she made on instinct alone, and why she walked away from everything for three months last year to figure out what she wanted next.
