Moroccan-Senegalese mobility startup Weego has raised $1.1 million from Azur Innovation Fund to expand its multimodal transport platform and prepare for regional growth.

Founded in 2020 by Saad Jittou and Mor Niane, Weego builds technology that connects public and private transport services into a single digital platform. The system integrates buses, trams, taxis, and private transport operators, allowing users to plan and track trips in real time through one interface.

The company will use the funding to strengthen its technical team, improve data integration, expand into more Moroccan cities, grow its business-to-business operations, and prepare for expansion into other African markets, as well as Europe and the Middle East.

Urban congestion remains a challenge across major African cities. In Morocco, transport efficiency is increasingly linked to economic growth, particularly as the country works toward its 2030 development goals. Weego says it is building a digital layer that connects existing transport networks to make them easier to use and manage.

“Transportation is the primary obstacle to economic activity in our cities,” said Saad Jittou, CEO and co-founder of Weego. “By 2030, our metropolitan areas will have to manage unprecedented passenger flows. At Weego, we are building the technological layer that connects existing infrastructure to make it more efficient. This funding enables us to accelerate this vision in Morocco and begin our regional expansion.”

Beyond serving individual commuters, Weego also provides transport management tools for businesses. The platform helps employers organize staff transportation, reduce logistics costs, and improve punctuality.

Azur Innovation Fund said its investment supports the development of integrated transport systems across African cities.

“Weego’s approach addresses a critical need: the unification of transport modes,” said Adnane Filali, Managing Partner at Azur Innovation Fund. “By investing in this solution, we are supporting a Moroccan innovation capable of becoming a regional standard and meeting the modernization requirements of our African cities.”

Weego operates from Morocco and plans to use the new funding to scale its model across similar urban markets.
