Samsung on Wednesday dropped its Galaxy S25 lineup at the Galaxy Unpacked event, delivering the predictable yet refined flagship experience we’ve seen in previous years. As expected, the company’s leaning hard into AI for a more context-aware and predictive user experience—though that’s hardly a unique pitch at this point.

The S25 series comes in at about the same price as last year’s Galaxy S24 phones, all powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. While that promises a boost in CPU, GPU, and NPU performance, we’ll have to see if those claims hold up once the phones are out in the wild.

Oh, and there’s a brief teaser for the rumoured S25 Edge (Slim)—though how slim it’ll actually be is still anyone’s guess. Samsung showed it off for a moment, and the buzz is it might be the skinnier sibling in the lineup, maybe even thinner than its flagship counterparts.

The phones are up for pre-order now, with official sales kicking off on February 7. Full reviews will drop then, but for those looking to upgrade now, we’ve broken down the specs for all three models in this article.

If you’re wondering what’s worth the extra cost for the S25+ or Ultra? Here’s a quick look.

All the phones unveiled at Galaxy Unpacked 2025 include:

  • Base model Galaxy S25: Starting Price is $799 (128GB) / ₦1,331,501, $860 (256GB) / ₦1,433,155.
  • A larger Galaxy S25+: Priced at $999 (256GB) / ₦1,664,793, $1,120 (512GB) / ₦1,866,435.
  • The Premium Galaxy S25 Ultra: Starting price is from $1,299 (256GB) / ₦2,164,731, $1,420 (512GB) / ₦2,366,373, $1,660 (1TB) / ₦2,766,323.
  • Ultra-thin Galaxy S25 Edge teaser: TBA

Galaxy S25 Ultra

Galaxy S25 Ultra

The Galaxy S25 Ultra is sticking to the same $1,300 price as last year’s Ultra. It sports a 6.9-inch display and a quad-camera setup, featuring 50 MP ultra-wide, 200MP wide, and 3x/5x telephoto lenses.

Samsung’s hyping up the durability too, calling it the “slimmest, lightest, and most durable” Ultra yet, with a titanium body and Gorilla Armor 2. The ultra-wide lens gets a bump to 50MP, which could be a solid upgrade.

As for the S Pen, it’s back, but with one less feature: Air Commands are gone. The S25 Ultra comes with up to 1TB of storage and 12GB of RAM, but we’ll have to wait until the official launch to see how it actually holds up.

Galaxy S25 and S25+

Galaxy S25 and S25+

Both the Galaxy S25 and S25+ get a RAM bump to 12GB, matching the Ultra, up from 8GB in their 2024 counterparts. Combined with the Snapdragon 8 Elite, they should handle all those AI tasks a little better.

Hardware-wise, not much has changed from the S24 and S24+ models. The 6.2-inch and 6.7-inch displays are the same, but Samsung’s ProScaler in S25+ could help make things look better by upscaling images in real-time, claiming a 40% improvement.

Engadget’s Mat Smith had a hands-on with the S25 and S25+ and liked the “premium and solidly built” design and “vivid, bright and gorgeous” displays. But he raised an eyebrow at the focus on AI features, noting that while some have impressed, others feel a little unnecessary.

Storage stays the same as the S24 series, with 128GB or 256GB on the Galaxy S25 and 256GB or 512GB on the S25+. The pricing also holds steady, with the S25 starting at $800 and the S25+ at $1,000.

Much like last year’s reveal of the Galaxy Ring, Samsung dropped a quick preview of its rumoured “Galaxy Slim” phone at Unpacked 2025. This time, it’s called the Galaxy S25 Edge. What we saw was definitely a thinner phone, but Samsung seemed more interested in showing off its vapour chamber, cameras, and metallic frame than actually letting us see the full handset.

As for the specs and price? We still don’t know. But Bloomberg says it’ll use many of the same components as the S25 Ultra—just at a lower price.

There’s talk of a first-half launch this year, though details are still sparse. Samsung’s South Africa rep confirmed to Android Authority that the Slim model is coming, but it won’t be available everywhere right away. The release will likely be phased, with Korea and the US potentially getting it first.
