YellowLyfe has announced the return of TechUnwind, the community gathering built for Lagos tech and creative professionals who need a proper evening off. The latest edition, TechUnwind Owanbe Edition, takes place on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at Gameland, Lekki, Lagos, from 3 PM to 10 PM – and it is the most intentional version of the event to date.

TechUnwind was created for a specific kind of person: the developer who has not been to an event unrelated to work in months, the founder who keeps promising to rest after the next sprint, the product manager mediating team conflicts, the designer repeating why UX matters in every single meeting. It is a gathering with no panels, no pitch competitions, and no keynotes about disrupting industries. Just the Lagos tech community, in one room, with food, music, and permission to exhale.

The Owanbe Edition takes that foundation and wraps it in something deeply Nigerian.

In Yoruba culture, owanbe — loosely translated as “it is there”  refers to a celebration where people arrive dressed in their finest traditional attire, eat well, dance, and mark an occasion with full intention. It is, in almost every way, the cultural opposite of the modern tech workspace. Layering this theme onto TechUnwind is a deliberate choice. It signals that the Lagos tech professional does not have to choose between being excellent at their work and being proudly, unapologetically Nigerian.

Attendees can expect traditional Nigerian food from top Lagos vendors jollof, suya, pepper soup, amala and abula, and palm wine served cold- alongside a live band performing all evening, a DJ-powered after-party from 8 PM to 10 PM, community games, and a room full of people who understand the particular weight of the industry without needing it explained.

A standout feature of this edition is the TechUnwind branded Owanbe fabric, available from ₦38,000 as part of tiered cloth packages that include event tickets and home delivery. Guests take the fabric to their own tailor, arrive in a silhouette that is uniquely theirs, and become part of a visually unified celebration. Packages range from the Classic Cloth (3 yards, one ticket) to the Friendship Combo (6 yards split between two people, two tickets)  designed to make the owanbe aesthetic accessible and personal.

Traditional attire is required, but the branded fabric is optional. Guests who source their own attire are equally welcome, so long as they come dressed.

“TechUnwind exists because the Lagos tech calendar is full of events that ask you to give more. This edition is asking you to receive something instead.”— Seyi Olaniyan, Convener TechUnwind.

Early bird tickets are priced at ₦10,000 until June 15, after which standard tickets are available at ₦15,000. Squad tickets for groups of five start at ₦45,000. TechUnwind Owanbe Edition is a YellowLyfe event.
