Role Overview
We are looking for an Editorial Lead to oversee content quality, guide editorial direction, and manage the day-to-day output of Condia’s content.
This role is responsible for ensuring that everything published meets a high standard of clarity, relevance, and usefulness. You will work closely with writers and other team members to improve content and maintain consistency across the platform.
Key Responsibilities
Editorial Direction
- Help maintain Condia’s editorial voice and standards
- Guide topic selection and content priorities
- Ensure content aligns with audience needs and platform goals
Content Quality & Review
- Edit and review articles before publication
- Improve structure, clarity, and readability
- Ensure content is accurate, relevant, and well-presented
Editorial Planning
- Manage the editorial calendar
- Assign topics and coordinate with writers
- Ensure consistent publishing across content areas
Writing
- Contribute to content where needed, particularly on important or high-impact topics
- Support overall content output by stepping in when necessary
- Help reinforce writing standards through example
Team Coordination
- Work closely with writers to improve output and quality
- Provide feedback and guidance on content
- Support onboarding of new contributors
Performance Awareness
- Monitor how content performs and identify areas for improvement
- Use insights to refine content approach and priorities
Requirements
- 4+ years experience in journalism, digital media, or content publishing
- Strong editing and writing skills
- Experience working with writers or managing content workflows
- Ability to maintain quality while managing multiple pieces of content
- Good understanding of how digital content is consumed
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in tech, startup, or business journalism
- Experience working in a newsroom or digital media environment
- Familiarity with content performance metrics
- Understanding of the African tech ecosystem
