Circle Ventures, the corporate venture arm of stablecoin issuer Circle, has made an undisclosed investment in CrissCross, the South African cross-border payments business owned by Stitch Group.

CrissCross announced the deal on October 26, 2026. The money went in through Stitch Group, its parent company, and will fund the expansion of its stablecoin-powered payments infrastructure across Africa.

“Africa’s cross-border payments market is massive, complex, and underserved. Circle Ventures’ investment validates what we’ve been building: infrastructure that can handle that complexity at scale.” said James Cope, CrissCross’s general manager.

Brian Schultz, Circle’s vice president of corporate development and ventures, said the company is excited to back CrissCross as it scales in “some of the most complex and underserved corridors in the world.”

CrissCross, founded in 2022 by Lex Campbell and Byron Coetsee, sells enterprise cross-border payment infrastructure through a single API. Its products cover local collections, automated payouts, and corporate treasury management with real-time foreign exchange.

The platform links blockchain settlement to local payment rails. Funds then reach bank accounts and mobile wallets across the continent.

Recently, the company partnered with Velocity, a London-based stablecoin payments and corporate treasury platform.

It operates in more than 30 African markets, supports over 20 currencies, and claims a 99.99% uptime. Its clients include multinational enterprises, financial institutions, and platforms that move money through hard-to-reach corridors.
