The Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP) has launched a programme to provide 1,000 Nigerians with laptops. The initiative aims to help more Nigerians access digital tools for learning, work and business through consumer credit.
The Credit for Laptops, Internet, Connectivity and Knowledge Digital Devices (C.L.I.C.K.D.) programme was launched on 21 July 2026 in Abuja and is a partnership between CREDICORP and the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy.
The programme is designed to make digital devices more accessible through affordable credit. Organisers said it would support Nigerians seeking to build digital skills while creating opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship.
The first phase targets fellows enrolled in Learn2Earn, a platform providing digital education for Nigerians aged 18-35.
To address this gap, CREDICORP is working with Fidelity Bank Plc, NASENI Innovation Hub and Imose Technologies Limited. Under the initiative, 1,000 locally assembled laptops will be distributed to eligible fellows across the country.
At the launch event, held at the Afreximbank African Trade Centre in Abuja, 77 beneficiaries received their laptops. The distribution marks the beginning of a nationwide rollout that will continue in phases.
The programme also seeks to promote local manufacturing by prioritising laptops assembled in Nigeria. CREDICORP said the initiative demonstrates how consumer credit can be used to improve digital inclusion while supporting local industry.
According to the corporation, expanding access to digital devices will help more Nigerians participate in the country’s growing digital economy.
