Condia, a leading African tech publication, has received an award for its contribution to fostering an inclusive ecosystem. The publication with over 100,000 monthly readers received this recognition at the African Ecosystem mixer in Abuja hosted by First Founders, a Lagos-based venture studio focused on early-stage startups.

The award is coming 10 months after the tech publication executed a strategic rebrand from its former identity, Benjamindada.com, to Condia led by its Editor-in-Chief, Daniel Adeyemi and supported by the publisher, Benjamin Dada.

“This award from First Founders is a significant validation of our core thesis,” said Daniel Adeyemi, Editor-in-Chief of Condia.” When we became Condia, our goal was to broaden the narrative and prove that world-class innovation is happening beyond the usual hotbeds. We are committed to telling the stories of resilient founders building truly impactful companies.”

Ever since the strategic shift in name, the publication took up a broader vision of pushing underrepresented founders often overlooked in Nigeria’s mainstream venture ecosystem. This led to publications of stories about automotive startup Carbin Africa, which turned a billion GMV in a year; Food tech startup MyFoodAngels, solving food insecurity problems at a lesser price; FiguresHub, an EdTech based in Badagry, hoping to train 10 million Nigerians in tech; the Car45 mafia fronted by Condia; PocketLawyers, a portfolio company of First Founders Inc, amongst others.

The sheer hard work of the publication has not gone unnoticed in less than a year, and it has garnered this latest endorsement from FirstFounders, a similar champion in the venture-building space whose sole mission is to spotlight underrepresented founders and sectors on the continent.
