With this release, Nothing moves beyond being a niche or midrange option, positioning itself as a serious alternative to Samsung and Google in the high-end space.

OnePlus is expanding its midrange play this July with the Nord 5 and Nord CE 5. The Nord 5 steps in as the brand’s most ambitious Nord yet, introducing a new design language, a flagship-tier chip, and features like the customisable Plus Key and onboard AI tools.

It builds on the Nord 3’s foundation but pushes further toward premium territory, hoping to blur the line between upper midrange and affordable flagship.

The Nord CE 5, on the other hand, leans into value with a larger battery and a more affordable price point. While it shares some design elements with the Nord 5, it’s clearly positioned for buyers prioritising endurance and price.

Samsung leads the July lineup with its next-gen foldables. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 takes the spotlight, arriving thinner and lighter than ever—easily the sleekest book-style foldable yet.

Leaks show a more refined design that could help it hold its own against rivals like Google and Oppo. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 gets subtle but meaningful upgrades, focusing on usability and style.

With both models expected to debut at Samsung’s Unpacked event, this foldable refresh signals a push toward slimmer, more pocket-friendly foldables, without dropping the premium vibe.

Both the Hot 60 5G and Hot 60i aim to deliver a smart, responsive experience at a budget-friendly price, while a sleeker, premium-looking Pro+ variant is also expected. The series leans heavily on AI tools for photos, search, and daily use—all wrapped in slim, lightweight designs.

Samsung’s Galaxy M36 5G brings a sleeker design and long-term software commitment to the budget space. With a minimalist flat-frame look and one of the slimmest builds in the M-series, it stands out visually.

The phone supports 4K video recording—rare at this price—and runs One UI 6 on Android 14 for a clean experience. As always, Samsung promises six years of updates, pushing it beyond just an affordable 5G option to a phone built for the long haul.

Vivo X Fold 5

Launch Date: July 14, 2025 | Display: 8.03″ main, 6.53″ cover | Processor: Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 | Camera:  50 MP Sony IMX921 primary + 50 MP Ultra-wide + 50 MP Telephoto + 20MP Selfie | Battery and Charging: 6000mAh, 80W, 40W wireless | Storage: 12-16GB RAM/256-1TB | Expected Price: $1,200

vivo continues refining its foldable line with the X Fold 5, a device that balances sleek aesthetics with practical durability. It’s noticeably lighter and slimmer than its predecessor, making it more comfortable to use despite its large screen.

vivo is also leaning into cross-platform usability, with Apple ecosystem support now part of the experience—a rare move in the Android foldable space. The design feels premium, especially in the eye-catching Orange Haze finish, and the camera module borrows design cues from vivo’s flagship range.

It also promises impressive longevity thanks to advanced water resistance across multiple standards, although it still skips on dust protection. Altogether, it’s a more refined and flexible take on the foldable formula.

Tecno Pova 7

Phones launching in July 2025: Samsung, OnePlus, Oppo, Infinix & more

Launch Date: July 4, 2025 | Display: 6.78 FHD+ IPS LCD | Processor: MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Ultimate | Camera: Triple 50MP main + 13MP Selfie | Battery and Charging: 6000mAh, 45W, 30W wireless | Storage: 8GB RAM/128-256GB | Expected Price: $199

Tecno isn’t playing safe this year—the Pova 7 Ultra 5G packs serious appeal for power users on a budget. With a bold new look, glowing LED accents, and one of the biggest batteries you’ll find in a 2025 midrange phone, it’s clearly designed to stand out.

The phone’s edgy aesthetic and youthful colour options make it a natural fit for Gen Z users, while Tecno’s AI Anywhere Portal hints at a push toward more intelligent features across its ecosystem. Already available in some Asian and Latin American markets, the Pova 7 Ultra feels like a confident attempt by Tecno to elevate its global game.

Motorola G86

Motorola’s G-series is getting a bold visual refresh this July with the Moto G86. Leaked images show off a standout design, especially the purple model with a back panel that blends felt and textile textures, giving it a distinctive, almost fabric-like feel.

The phone borrows heavily from the sleeker Edge 60 Fusion, particularly in its camera island, hinting at Motorola’s effort to unify its design language across different price tiers.

With Pantone colour finishes like Cosmic Sky and Golden Cypress, the G86 feels more style-conscious than most midrangers. It’s also launching alongside a Power variant with a larger battery, giving users more endurance without leaving the G-series family.
