Uyoyo Ogedegbe

Managing Director, cNGN at WrappedCBDC / Africa Stablecoin Consortium

About

Uyoyo Ogedegbe is the inaugural Managing Director of cNGN — Nigeria's first regulated, naira-backed stablecoin — and Chief Business Officer at Convexity, the blockchain infrastructure company behind the project. A lawyer by training, with a background in banking, corporate finance, and securities law from the Nigerian Law School, Ogedegbe led more than two years of regulatory and technical groundwork before cNGN launched in February 2025 under the Securities and Exchange Commission's Regulatory Incubation Program. The stablecoin, issued by WrappedCBDC Limited on behalf of the Africa Stablecoin Consortium, surpassed one billion tokens in circulation by December 2025 and crossed $15 million in total transaction volume within nine months of launch, growing 77% month-on-month at its peak.

Ogedegbe's significance lies in what cNGN represents at the regulatory frontier: a government-supervised, fully reserved digital naira that gives Nigerian fintechs a compliant on-chain settlement rail without the dollar-denomination risk. His legal expertise has been central to constructing the consortium model that brought commercial banks, SEC oversight, and blockchain infrastructure into the same framework. In a continent where most stablecoin experiments remain offshore and unregulated, Ogedegbe's insistence on building within the rules offers a template for how African sovereigns can participate in the stablecoin economy.
