About

Ogbo and Ikechukwu Okeke were running Paylot, a merchant billing product, and noticed customers using it to off-ramp crypto rather than bill anyone. They built a single page to make that easier, never advertised it, and watched it outgrow the parent company. It became Obiex.

Then the CBN's February 2021 circular cut off automated payouts. A product that cannot process automated payments is dead. Many Nigerian crypto companies closed permanently. Obiex ran manual processing as an OTC desk until it could rebuild.

What came out the other side is a trading and infrastructure platform known for one feature: Swap Without Confirmation, which locks an exchange rate before blockchain confirmation completes. Since then, they've seen over 80,000 users, trade volume past $200 million, backend rails for other businesses, and expansion into Ghana and South Africa.
