About
Benjamin Fernandes built NALA from a consumer remittance business into payment infrastructure for Africa itself. Its Rafiki platform was created after NALA discovered that controlling the underlying rails could improve reliability, treasury management, error handling and payout economics. Rafiki now operates across 18 markets in Africa and Asia, increasingly using stablecoins as a settlement layer alongside regulated payment infrastructure. Fernandes belongs on Borderless 100 because he is making a bet that the durable advantage in African remittances is not merely acquiring customers, but owning the infrastructure through which money moves.
