In the fast-moving world of African fintech, it’s not every day that you find a team willing to dig deep, push past the noise, and build something that truly moves the needle for businesses.

That’s exactly what Paenote has done, and continues to do.

Born from a simple yet urgent problem, which was the inability of African SMEs to send, receive, and manage payments across borders with speed and transparency. Paenote has become a force to watch.

This is not a platform chasing hype; this is a team that has poured grit, late nights, and unwavering passion into making African businesses thrive in the global economy.

It’s been a long and hard journey, but the resilience and capacity of this team can only be fueled by a burning desire to see things work properly.

From bustling Lagos markets where importers need reliable payment systems, to Ghanaian and South African traders shipping goods to Europe and Asia, Paenote is quietly but powerfully embedding itself into the lifeblood of African commerce.

Unlike many platforms and founders that stay digital-first with no real market touch, Chukwudi Ubah (Co-founder, Paenote) believes in being on the ground, meeting traders, understanding pain points, and solving them with solutions that work. “I know research and market analysis are very good on paper, but we also engage traders every week. We sit with them and try to understand their payment issues”

This approach to market penetration is as relentless as it is thoughtful.

It gets better.

Paenote is also partnering with trade associations to onboard thousands of SMEs, and also offering transparent rates that put control back in the hands of business owners.

They aren’t slowing down either. With plans to scale into the UK- and US-Nigeria corridor, and East African export markets, Paenote is gradually positioning itself as the next big thing in African cross border finance.

For the founders and the team behind the Paenote, this is more than fintech. This is a mission. A belief that African businesses deserve payment systems that work as hard as they do. “We started with nothing but a vision and the will to make it happen,” says Olawale Peters, Chief Design Officer of Paenote. “Every business we help succeed is a reminder that we’re on the right path!”

In an industry crowded with noise, Paenote stands out for its substance and if their early traction is any indication, their journey from bold idea to market leader is only just beginning.
