‘I resigned’— Milton Tutu responds to claim he was fired at Selar

The fallout from The Moment 2026 has taken an even more personal turn as Milton Tutu, the newly appointed CMO of Mainstack, has formally responded to allegations made by Selar CEO Douglas Kendyson regarding his departure from the company.

In a response posted on Medium at 10 am on Monday, Milton said he tendered a resignation at Selar.

“I’ve also heard claims that I was fired from Selar. While multiple factors influenced my exit, the final and only official documentation that marked my exit from the company is my resignation letter, which was acknowledged by the leadership team,” he said.

Kendyson had sparked a social media firestorm by claiming that Tutu was “fired.” He made the claim in an X post condemning “cheap, coordinated PR attack” on Selar by rival brands.

“He was fired. I gave my blessings about his new position in December 2025 when they called me,” said Douglas.

The controversy peaked during The Moment 2026 (March 13–15), Mainstack’s flagship conference, where Tutu was announced as the company’s new CMO.

Following a series of similar X posts announcing Tutu’s new role at Mainstack, Kendyson took to X (formerly Twitter) to label the campaign a “cheap coordinated PR attack.” In a blunt addition to the thread, he stated, “He was fired.”

Tutu’s response addresses the claim directly, emphasizing his long-term contribution to Selar’s growth and the amicable nature of his public exit in late 2025.

“You can call me a bad boss or a bad leader, but I am still only human, same as you, and with that comes the opportunity for learning and growth,” said Tutu in a response that may have fueled a battle that is captivating the Nigerian tech ecosystem.
