DigiTax, a pan-African e-invoicing firm, has appointed Olumide Akinsola as its Nigerian Country Director, shortly after securing accreditation from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) as an Access Point Provider (APP) under the new Merchant Buyer Solution (MBS) e-invoicing platform.

The move comes as Nigeria steps into a new phase of tax digitisation. From November 1, 2025, all companies with annual revenues above ₦5 billion will be required to comply with FIRS’ real-time e-invoicing rules or risk penalties of ₦1 million per day. By January 2026, the mandate will extend to all businesses, regardless of size.

“Nigeria is a key market for DigiTax, and this accreditation by FIRS is a strong validation of our pan-African expertise. We look forward to working with businesses of all sizes to support them on this journey,”  said Caine Wanjau, CEO of DigiTax, in a statement.

DigiTax has an existing track record across Africa, where it already supports more than 800 businesses and processes over $10 billion worth of invoices and credit notes annually. The company provides real-time invoice validation, an FIRS-ready sandbox for testing integrations, and end-to-end data encryption for secure compliance.

The company’s Nigerian expansion is part of a broader strategy to enter African markets with large taxpayer bases and ongoing digital invoicing reforms. Nigeria is only its third market after Kenya and Zambia, but its potential is significant. With accreditation secured and local leadership in place, DigiTax is positioning itself as a compliance partner for the November deadline and  SMEs that will sign up in 2026. For FIRS, the partnership provides a tested channel to accelerate the adoption of real-time digital invoicing across the Nigerian economy.
