Bolt, the ride-hailing platform with over 200 million customers, has been named the most downloaded travel and mobility app in Nigeria, according to new figures from analytics firm Sensor Tower.
This is coming six months after InDrive was named the second most downloaded ride-hailing app globally and in Nigeria this year.
Nigeria is one of 23 countries where Bolt holds the top spot. The company first entered the market in 2016 as Taxify, launching in Lagos. Since then, Bolt has expanded to 33 cities, making it one of the widest-reaching ride-hailing operators in the country.
“We are pleased that Nigerians are enjoying Bolt, but we’ve still got room to grow further and faster,” said Osi Oguah, General Manager for Bolt Nigeria. “We’re going to keep accelerating and expanding into more cities, launching new services where possible, and enhancing the Bolt app with new features to deliver the best experience possible.”
The new ranking comes as Bolt steps up its product and market expansion in Nigeria. Last month, Condia reported that the company introduced a family profile feature, allowing one user to pay for and manage rides for up to nine people from a single account. The update is designed to boost safety, convenience, and financial control for families and caregivers.
These moves underline Bolt’s focus on scale and accessibility in Nigeria, where demand for affordable mobility continues to rise.
