Airbnb announced on Tuesday it is introducing a private car pickup service to its service catalogue in 125 cities after a pilot testing of the feature in Europe and Asia exceeded expectations.
The hospitality giants are partnering with the transportation company Welcome Pickups to launch a new feature that lets users book a private car service in the world’s most important cities.
“Airbnb Services are designed to enhance a guest’s stay, and our partnership with Welcome Pickups delivers that from the moment they arrive,” Dave Stephenson, chief business officer at Airbnb, said in a statement.
Thousands of users in Europe and Asia reviewed the feature in the pilot phase, giving it an average rating of 4.96. The new feature adds to Airbnb’s growing list of services outside its original accommodation offer.
Last year, Airbnb launched a service category as part of its unique offer to users. At that time, the hospitality brand offered 10 service categories. These new categories include the ability to book chefs, catering, prepared meals, photography, massages, spa treatments, personal training, hair, nails, and makeup across eight countries.
How the New Pickup Service Works
Assuming you are in a new city like Paris, Bali or Mexico City. Booking an Airbnb apartment includes a private car pickup service, giving you the luxury of your own personal chauffeur.
According to Airbnb, once you book a stay in a city where the service is available, you will see an option to schedule a private cab to the listing in the Trips tab of the Airbnb app. Users of this feature can view and review their cab reservation details and make desired changes directly from the app.
The new Airbnb feature combines accommodation and transportation, which together account for about 80% of the traveller’s experience.
At press time, the feature is only available in select countries. Airbnb announced that it is expanding the feature across 125 cities in no distant time.
Airbnb, over the years, has shaved off a sizeable chunk of the hospitality market from traditional hotel brands. The hospitality brand announced an annual revenue of $12.24 billion in 2025 and $11.10 billion in 2024.
