Every year, thousands of startups gather to network and listen to over 350 leaders in the financial services industry discuss the future at Money20/20.

This year’s Money20/20 event took place from Sunday, October 26, to Wednesday, October 29, 2025. The theme is “Create the Future”, which focuses on four key pillars: Fintech Spring, Age of Infrastructure, Global Payments Race, and Securing Trust. Speakers include: Bret Taylor (Co-founder and CEO, Sierra), Jennifer Bailey (VP of Apple Pay and Apple Wallet), Rodney E. Hood (Former Federal Banking Regulator) and Jonathan V. Gould (Comptroller of the Currency, OCC).

This year, ticket prices increased year-on-year by $100 across the standard pass (now, $4,099) and the early-stage startup pass, $1,745. The passes cover access to the full experience, alongside feeding, and some discounts on hotel rates.

According to the official Money20/20 website, there have been 11,000 senior attendees, which includes 66% of the US’s Top 20 fintech unicorns, and 85% of the world’s top 20 banks, across over 80 countries. It also has a strong global media presence, with over 300 representatives securing interviews, podcasts, and follow-up stories.

Last year, Condia was one of the media organisations that attended the Money20/20.

Given the costs and benefits of attending, we asked, “How many African startups make it to this event?”. We counted about 10 in Money20/20 2024. Some companies, like Flutterwave, set up booths, while others bought tickets and sent their CEOs or senior executives to represent the brand.

Attending such events is a must for African fintech companies seeking to enter the cross-border payments market. Global brands like SWIFT, VISA, JPMorgan and other PSPs are present. So, what’s better than an in-person, open-door meeting?

So, which African startups attended this year’s Money20/20 event in Vegas? They are: Flutterwave, Transactworld digital, Graph, Payaza, Pesa, Duplo, Budpay
