Eyone, a Senegalese healthtech startup providing digital health solutions, has raised $1 million to advance its AI-driven medical solutions.

The funding round was led by Sonatel, a leading telecommunications provider in West Africa, through its investment fund, Véhicule d’Investissement et de Financing (VIF), with a contribution of $855,000. BICIS, a major Senegalese bank, also demonstrated its support for the initiative with a $145,000 investment.

Eight-year-old Eyone has focused on building connected systems to digitise healthcare pathways, specifically addressing the unique needs and challenges of the African continent.

Its medical interoperability platform provides healthcare professionals and patients with real-time access to medical records, significantly enhancing the quality of care.

“Our goal is simple: to improve the quality of care while democratising access to health for all,” says Henri Ousmane Gueye, CEO of Eyone. “This funding marks a key step in our journey, allowing us to continue to innovate and meet the growing needs of our populations.”

In 2024, Eyone achieved a significant milestone by collaborating with the Senegalese government to implement the Shared Patient Record (Dossier Patient Unique Partagé). This project will ensure the availability of reliable and secure medical data throughout the patient’s healthcare journey.

With this new investment, Eyone hopes to develop innovative medical assistance solutions based on artificial intelligence and expand its services to other African countries. To achieve this it’ll also recruit more specialised health professionals.

“We are proud to support Eyone in this strategic phase of its development,” says Sékou Dramé, CEO of the Sonatel Group. “As a group committed to innovation, we firmly believe in their vision of making digital health a key lever for the development of Africa.”

Eyone is proving that technology can truly transform healthcare in Africa. By digitising medical records and making information instantly accessible, they’re building a more connected and efficient system for everyone.
