Seyi Ebenezer has taken Payaza down a deliberately unfashionable path in African fintech: proving credibility through the balance sheet. Payaza provides cross-border payment infrastructure for businesses, while expanding its regulatory footprint across African and international markets. In 2025, the company repaid N20.3 billion ($13.5 million) of commercial paper ahead of schedule using internally generated cash flow, alongside multiple credit-rating upgrades. That matters in a sector where valuation and fundraising can obscure underlying economics. Ebenezer belongs on Borderless 100 because Payaza is making a different argument: financial infrastructure becomes genuinely borderless when it can survive scrutiny from regulators, creditors and counterparties.
