Adedeji Owonibi

Adedeji Owonibi is the co-founder and COO of WrappedCBDC, the organisation behind cNGN — Nigeria's first regulated, naira-backed stablecoin. Based in Nigeria, Owonibi leads the operations and technology development of a project that launched in February 2025 under the Securities and Exchange Commission's Regulatory Incubation Program and surpassed one billion tokens in circulation by December 2025. His role spans the technical architecture of the stablecoin's issuance and redemption infrastructure, the operational processes for managing reserves, and the partner relationships with commercial banks participating in the consortium.

Owonibi belongs on the Borderless 100 because cNGN represents a meaningful attempt to bring the naira into the digital asset economy on terms that are both compliant and practically useful to Nigerian fintechs. The operational and technical infrastructure he has built — processing over $15 million in transaction volume with 77% month-on-month growth at peak — is the machinery that makes the stablecoin work.
